Ramon Watkins is an Australian filmmaker. Over 7 years in the industry, he has developed and contributed to a range of projects, including narrative shorts, documentaries, TVCs, branded content, fashion films, music videos and web series.
He made his ABC iView debut in February 2018 with his short documentary DANCES, an exploration of LGBTQIA+ issues through animation and dance. It played at festivals across the world (including Outfest 2018) and won the Emerging Queer Filmmaker award at QueerScreen 2019, as well as Most Innovative Short at TWIST Seattle Queer Film Festival in 2018.
In 2018, Ramon produced and directed SUMMIT, a short thriller about a diabetic woman's race against her own body, headed for the festival circuit in late 2019. And most recently, Ramon’s film for vintage brand IRVRSBL was selected for VAMFF’s 2019 Australian Fashion Film Award.
As an editor, Ramon recently completed the documentary CAMINO SKIES, which began its AUS/NZ release in June 2019 and was nominated for Best Feature Documentary Editing at Doc Edge 2019.
In addition to his work, Ramon enjoys screenwriting, bashing around on the piano, and requesting Whitney Houston at gay dive bars.
